C-DAC, renowned for its cutting-edge and innovative technology contributions across both strategic and civilian domains, was invited to participate in a conference on "Brain-Computer Interface (BCI): Expanding Neural Frontiers and Its Strategic Implications," organized by HQ IDS (Integrated Defence Staff) Medical Branch and CENJOWS on May 5th, 2026.
The C-DAC Delhi Centre, known for its pioneering work at the intersection of brain-behavioural science, psycho-physiological studies, and cognitive computing, led the representation. Dr. Priyanka Jain, Scientist F & Head of the NeuroCognitive AI & XR Group, was invited to contribute to the conference right form support in management, an invited talk, participation in a panel discussion, and an interactive technology showcase.
- Session 1 Invited Talk:"National Landscape of BCI start-up Ecosystem" Chaired by Air Marshal PK Vohra, UYSM, AVSM, VM, DCIDS (PP & FD) and co-chaired by Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM, DCIDS (DOT), Dr. Priyanka delivered the talk highlighting the growing holistic role of Indian startups in shaping indigenous BCI innovation – Championing India’s Atmanirbhar vision in frontier neurotechnology.
- Session 2 Panel Discussion:"BCI in the Strategic Domain explored the transformative implications of Brain-Computer Interfaces for modern warfare and national security." Dr. Priyanka served as a distinguished panellist in the session moderated by Shri Divyanshu Jindal (NSCS, MoD), alongside Air Marshals, DRDO scientists, and defence technology leaders - addressing BCI integration into national security strategy, human-machine teaming, and ethical considerations for future battlefields.
- C-DAC Stall: A standout attraction at the conference was the C-DAC technology stall, where the team comprising of Shri Rohit Mishra - Scientist B, Shri Harsh Koria - PE and Shri Krishan Sharma - PEconducted live demonstrations of flagship innovations - Vivan BCI and Neurofeedback applications. The demos drew significant interest from delegates, showcasing C-DAC's indigenous capabilities in real-time brain-computer interfacing. The showcase in the stall was appreciated by General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)& Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) underscoring the strategic relevance of C-DAC Delhi's work in this domain.
The conference aimed to bring together experts to deliberate on and chart the future roadmap for Brain-Computer Interface in the strategic domain. This also positions C-DAC to further contribute its knowledge and expertise in support of national priorities.
