eSanjeevani, India's National Telemedicine Service, has crossed the landmark of 50 crore (500 million) teleconsultations, marking a significant milestone in India's population-scale digital health journey. The achievement underscores its evolution into a national-scale digital health infrastructure delivering accessible, affordable and quality remote healthcare across diverse geographies and population groups. Recognised as the world's largest government-supported telemedicine implementation in primary healthcare, eSanjeevani exemplifies the application of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) principles to healthcare and its potential as a Digital Public Good (DPG). Its scale and reach contribute to the broader objectives of Universal Health Coverage and SDGs 3, 5, 9, and 10.
eSanjeevani operates through two complementary modes: eSanjeevani–Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Provider-to-Provider Telemedicine) and eSanjeevaniOPD (Patient-to-Provider Telemedicine). The platform has expanded to more than 1.42 lakh AAM spokes, 19,473 medical hubs and 901 online OPDs, with 2,41,923 registered providers. Operating in 15 Indian languages, it facilitates approximately 2.5 lakh consultations daily, with a peak of 6,30,315 consultations in a single day. Its scalable cloud-based architecture enables secure, reliable and high-volume teleconsultations, including in rural and remote areas.
Building on this scale, eSanjeevani has been further strengthened through integration with key digital health platforms and services, enhancing interoperability, accessibility and continuity of care. Integration with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), UMANG and NIC's NextGen eHospital platform extends eSanjeevani's connectivity with national digital public infrastructure and hospital information systems. C-DAC Noida's eSushrut is integrated with eSanjeevani and is currently live at AIIMS Jammu, AIIMS Patna and AIIMS Jodhpur for appointment-based follow-up consultations. C-DAC Mumbai's mSeva enables SMS-based communication and notifications, while eSanjeevani's integration with ERSS-112 and 108 services strengthens linkages with emergency healthcare services and supports a connected continuum of care.
eSanjeevani has also received the Gold Award under the National Awards for e-Governance 2026 for the application of emerging technologies in citizen-centric services through implementation of the AI-enabled Clinical Decision Support System (AI-CDSS). The continued evolution of eSanjeevani is backed by C-DAC Mohali's end-to-end technological development, enhancement, implementation, and support since inception, reflecting India's sustained indigenous digital health capability aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
